Hello , I'm bummed!
As it is written in the Scriptures, ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to me. John 6:45, NLT.
I'm 'bummed'!
Ever heard that phrase? It was popular in the '70s. People would say, "Well, that's a bummer." It meant something was way disappointing. I still use that phrase. Sometimes, when people tell me about a less than happy event, I reply, "Bums!" I'm not calling them a bum; I'm agreeing with them. So, this question arises, 'Can one be 'bummed' in the spiritual sense?'
God is unhappy with those who won't hear His word nor act on it.
Matthew 13:15 presents a striking idea: "For the hearts of these people are hardened, and their ears cannot hear, and they have closed their eyes—so their eyes cannot see, and their ears cannot hear, and their hearts cannot understand, and they cannot turn to me and let me heal them." People are 'spiritually-bummed.' You can imagine the feeling our Father has at this.
Healing is key!
God wants to heal people because all people sin, a spiritual disease leading to eternal death. You see, everyone is 'bummed' by sin. The solution for 'soul-bums' is clear. All one needs to do is open the heart, the ears, the eyes, understand, and turn to the Lord. Folks need to allow God to speak to them from the Bible. Everyone wants to be healthy, but very few are seeking the Great Physician.
I'm 'bummed' more people won't listen to God. But I'm not 'bummed' when someone does! Don't be 'bummed.'
Father, You give eternal life to all who seek You. You make salvation available to everyone. Thank You for Your gift of mercy, grace, and peace. Whatever happens, Father, we look to Your providence, Your promises, to walk us through the Shadow of Death. We praise You, O God, for the Son of Your love, for Jesus who died and is now gone above. Hallelujah, Yours is the glory. Hallelujah, Amen! In Your Son's Name, Father, Amen!
