Hello . That's it! That's the ticket!
Since everything around us is going to be destroyed like this, what holy and godly lives you should live, NLT, 2 Peter 3:11.
You know, everything's going away.
Yep, God says He's going to destroy the world with fire. That's going to happen when the Lord Jesus returns to take His saints home and judge the wicked. So, would we want to stand on a stool that's about to collapse? Would we live in a house that's about to fall around our ears? The answer to these questions is a definite no. Therefore, we shouldn't bank our existence on a world that will one day burn.
We could, of course, live any way we wanted.
We could live like the world will last forever - and, in our lifetime, it may. But, then again, it might not. So let's not spend our time here in rebellion to God but rather live as if we're one day going to meet Him. 1 Corinthians 13:13 communicates we should live in faith, hope, and love. Love, of course, is the greatest of these. I don't know of a soul who wants to live without love.
Live in love.
Ephesians 5:2 has it that we're to live a life of love, but in the same way Jesus loved us and gave Himself for us. So, therefore, we go the extra mile for a stranger - that's love. We help our church family in times of need - that's love, too. And we obey the commands of our Lord - "If you love me, obey my commandments," John 14:15, NLT. That's love and holiness as well.Tip: Let's live righteously in holiness and love before we go away.Father, it's in Your wisdom when the world passes. We know it could be any moment or after we leave this earth through our passing away. You make it so that we know true love through Jesus's sacrifice. And if that's the kind of love you express, then we pray for opportunities where we may love others as You do. May we see souls and not flesh. May we be the lights that glorify You, O Lord. It is in Your Son's Name, Amen!
