Hello,

T

oday, we’re talking about self-centeredness.

"Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves," NLT, Philippians 2:3

Self-centeredness, bad. Humility, good!

Properly speaking, self-centeredness is "putting one's self forward." Speaking plainly, however, it means arrogance, wanting one's own way - even at the expense of others or conceit. We pretty much don't like to see this in others and Christians? Well, they're supposed to give up self-centeredness for humility  Slide Material for Self-Centeredness is Bad

Lots of Bible examples!

The apostle Paul gave up his self-desire to punish Christians to become one - lots of humility there. What about Peter when the cock crowed three times? Think he put away his ego? But, of course, the most significant example is our Lord Jesus. How much humility does God show when He leaves His throne, comes to earth, and washes His creation's feet? And that's not all! Jesus willingly gave Himself for our sins - God dying for us! What extreme measure by our God to do this for errant, rebellious, and evil people. It's time we consider ourselves to put away ourselves for God's glory and for the light of Jesus to shine upon a sick and dying world.Tip: If we're faithful followers of Jesus, we'll put away our ego and serve where the Lord directs.Father, some things are hard for us. It is hard to put ourselves below someone else. Yet, our Lord commanded us so. May we serve Jesus in truth and respect; may we deny ourselves, take up our cross, following Him. You are so gracious, Father. How ignorant can people be who refuse Your salvation! May we honor You in hearts, minds, spirits, and bodies. In Jesus' name, Amen!
