Hello,

T

oday, we’re talking about patience as fruit of the Spirit.

“But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!” NLT, Galatians 5:22-23.

Patience: The Fruit of the Spirit

Patience is a significant part of living with our Lord. Jesus commands us to wait patiently for the Lord's blessings and His return. The words "patient, patiently, and waiting" are found more than 36 times in scripture. Thayer's Bible Dictionary defines patient this way: 1) patience, endurance, constancy, steadfastness, perseverance, and 2) patience, forbearance, longsuffering, and slowness in avenging wrongs. Our Father is super-patient with us! He doesn't do away with us when we miss the mark of His glory (sin). His patience is "long-breathed," meaning He patiently waits for us to get it right. How do we increase our patience? James 1:2-3 has this for us: "Consider it all joy, my brothers and sisters, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance." Enduring trials is the way to grow patience. We must wait patiently on the Lord for His loving blessings in trials. You can see the Bible material for patience here. You can listen to the audio here.Garland Van Dyke[email protected]www.biblepoints.org/bible-points
