Hello,

Cell Phones!

Exo 20:4 You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.  Exo 20:5  You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me,  Exo 20:6  but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments. Exodus 20:4-6, ESV.

**The Cell Phone as an Idol**

Hey there! Have you ever considered how much time you spend on your cell phone? It might seem like a silly question for a devotional, but it’s pretty important! I know I’m on my phone quite a bit.

I use my phone to read books, engage in Bible studies, catch up on the news, and look up information. It’s such a handy tool! But I have to admit, my wife often says I’m on my phone too much, and honestly, I agree. Sometimes, it’s tough to put it down, especially when we’re watching TV together.

I realize I need to cut back on my phone time. But it makes me wonder, am I unintentionally treating my phone like an idol? That thought is a bit unsettling. Just think about all the things I could do for the Lord with the time spent scrolling or playing games. Do you ever feel this way, too?

While we might not physically bow down to our phones, we might not even realize how much they consume our time. However, Exodus 20:4-5 reminds us to be careful about idols. Maybe we should take a moment to check our habits and see if they’re getting in the way of our devotion to God.

So, friends, let’s strive to live as if the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit live within us! Let’s live in love and share peace with those around us.
