John 1:16 For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.

Wow! God's grace is more than awesome!
Christians know that we are saved by grace (Ephesians 2:8) and are certainly grateful and indebted to Him for that. We see that our Father is super-kind to redeem us from sin. He didn't have to, you know. No law anywhere says He has to save us. He extended grace to us because His nature is like that, good and giving. In colloquial form, we may easily say, "God is awesomely sweet!"
But still, what about that phrase, "grace upon grace," ESV or NASB, grace for grace, found in John 1:16? Whatever does that mean?
We receive God's fullest measure of grace through Jesus Christ. For sure, the Old Testament Law was of grace - it showed people what to do and what not to do. The law was God's gift to the Hebrews. But now, the redemption found in Jesus shows the deepest revelation of grace and salvation. His incredible grace is seen through Jesus. So, we have grace upon grace. It's like a wave that keeps getting bigger and bigger as it washes over us.
We are reminded of Titus 2:11-14: "For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works."
Who, in their right mind, wouldn't accept God's awesomely gracious offer of eternal life?
