O Lord, Bless My SoulNumbers 6:24-26
Scripture tells us this: “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”
Fantastic words from our LORD! We all want this, of course. Everyone wants blessings from the Lord God. But what’s involved in these wonderful verses?
It’s written to God’s people; notice 3rd John 1:2, “Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.” That’s for His children today. God is always looking to the welfare of His people, and that’s something we can carry with us at every moment!
What does “the Lord bless you” mean? Today, it means the LORD’s providence is working for us by: Salvation, Forgiveness of sin, Hope of heaven, Living the Godly life, Beloved brethren, The church, and Love.
What about “Keep you”? In chapter 28 of Deuteronomy, the LORD promises a multitude of blessings if they would keep His commandments. It’s really no different for us today. If we keep the Lord’s commands, we will be blessed and exalted at the time of God’s choosing. We are kept by God, in His care, until we pass or the Lord returns in the sky. Consider John 14:15.

In summary, the Lord blesses His people, but we really have to be His people in all sincerity and truth. Nothing less will do for the LORD God of heaven.
He is our life, every day and forevermore.
