How Do I Do Good To My Neighbor?Luke 10:27
“And he answered, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.’”
Jesus agreed with the lawyer who answered His question. So Jesus expects us to love, do good to everyone, as in the story of the Good Samaritan. Occasionally, we might have questions about how to do that.
First thing, Good. Thayer’s Dictionary defines good as: good, pleasant, agreeable, joyful, happy. In our everyday world, as it relates to our topic, good means beneficial.
Then, Do Good. Galatians 6:10: So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith. Any time we’re out and about, we have the opportunity to do good for many people.
Then, Act or Speak. There are only two ways humans can act: verbally and behaviorally. Then take the time to greet everyone. I like to say “Yes, Sir” and “No, Sir” to everyone, regardless of age. After all, who doesn’t like “Good morning, Ma’am.”?
The fourth thing is, Build People Up. This is where evangelism comes into play. I meet people at Whataburger, Jack in the Box, Walmart, or… You get the idea. I simply ask them, “Hi, how are you? Do you know where Matthews St. is (that’s where our church building is located)? Then I tell them I preach there every Sunday morning at 10:30. Would you come with me?
So far, I’ve scored a 100%. People show up. They may come only once, but I’ve done good for them by giving them an opportunity for salvation. The thing is, you can too; it’s what Jesus wants!

Summary: You know how to be good to people. It’s not hard. According to Matthew 25, when you do good to someone, you are doing good to Him.
He is our life, now and forevermore.
