Hello ,

The Worship of the Lord's church...(The Lord's Supper)

  • Bread, Body, Given, Remember... The bread was unleavened bread, Old Testament requirement which the Lord and His disciples were under. See Exodus 12:8-13. The bread now points to the Lord's body as our sacrifice for sins. He freely gave His body for this. Jesus is our Passover lamb. We are commanded to remember.

  • Blood, Poured, New Covenant..Blood used in Exodus 12:13-20 was the Passover blood. In that blood God passed over the houses of the Israelites where it had been applied to the doorposts of their houses. When the angel saw the blood he passed over the Israelites, destroying only the firstborn of Egypt. The "fruit of the vine," Luke 22:18-20, NSAB, represents the blood of Jesus shed for the New Covenant, the New Testament.

  • Remember... We are commanded by the Lord to remember this sacrifice. We note the first century church did this on the first day of the week, Acts 20:7. So we share the Lord's Supper in remembrance of Him each first day of the week. See also 1 Corinthians 11:23-26.

Luke 22:19 And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, "This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me." Luke 22:20  And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, "This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood".

Prayer: Heavenly Father, from whom all blessings flow, Your Son's body given in our place, the human point of suffering shouts loudly in our ears. For our sins He left heaven to be fully man and fully God on earth. His blood shed from open wounds, the nails of the cross, and the crown of thorns, the spear thrust to His side, to complete the sacrifice. You are Almighty, Father. Jesus is our Savior. How can we ever pay such a debt but to live righteously in honor of our Lord. Amen! You can act on God's word right now friend - it's to the salvation of your soul. Click, the button below to receive more information!
