Hello , Tired? Then Jesus said, “Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile,” Mark 6:31. NLT.
1. Tired?
I know you are. You have a lot on your plate. I don't need to list all the items about which you handle. Physical tiredness can be overwhelming. Sometimes you go until you can't take another step. Rest! Blessed rest. Emotional tiredness can be just as debilitating. Your heart can't handle one more thing. But spiritual tiredness? It's awful. Don't want to pray - what good does it do anyway? Don't want to sing. Sometimes I'm angry about how things are. Services are blah. The preacher is blah. The songs are blah. Blah, blah, blah.
2. Rest! Here are eight verses for your spirit.
1. Matthew 11:28-30 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” 2. Hebrews 6:10 For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do.3. Mark 6:31 Then Jesus said, “Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.”4. Psalms 4:8 In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O LORD, will keep me safe.5. Exodus 33:14 The LORD replied, “I will personally go with you, Moses, and I will give you rest—everything will be fine for you.” 6. Philippians 4:6-7 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.7. Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world."8. Isaiah 40:31 But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.3. Strength! Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power, Paul said, in Ephesians 6:10. These verses, and others like them - the Bible is full of encouragement, are how you regain your strength, your stamina. It's OK to take care of yourself. It's OK to go by yourself and rest. Even Jesus needed to rest and recharge.
Tip: Let the Father take your spirit for the rest you need.
Prayer: Magnificent Father. You are wise beyond our ability to understand. You know exactly what we need, not just our outward man, but inner man as well. How many times can we say, "Thank You?" How many times can we praise You and honor You. You are God most high. In You, we live, move, and have our very being." Praise the Lord of Hosts! In Your Son's Name, Amen!
