Blinded Minds
Scripture Focus:
“In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” — 2 Corinthians 4:4
Second Corinthians 4:4 says that “the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving” so they will not see the light of the gospel of Christ. Satan does not always persuade people by making sin appear terrible. Often he makes it appear ordinary, pleasant, or unimportant. He fills hearts with the temporary things of this world until there is little room left for eternal truth.
A blinded mind may be intelligent, busy, successful, and even religious. Yet it cannot clearly see its need for Christ. It may hear the gospel but dismiss it, postpone obedience, or choose the comfort of familiar sin. Jesus came as the Light of the world, but light exposes what darkness hides.
This should move us to pray for open hearts and to speak of Jesus with love and patience. The answer to spiritual blindness is still the gospel. As we faithfully live and share Christ, God can help people see the Savior whom the world has taught them to ignore.
