Welcome to Truth from The Hive. I'm Garland Van Dyke. Today, we're considering four things God wants from us. In a world filled with confusion about religion and spirituality, God's Word gives a simple and clear answer.
0:14
He desires our faith, our repentance, our obedience, and our love. Let's spend a few moments together exploring these timeless truths. People often wonder what God wants from them.
0:27
Some imagine the answer is complicated, requiring years of study or a lifetime of searching. Yet when we open God's Word, we find that His desires for us are clear and understandable. First, God wants our faith.
0:41
Hebrews eleven verse six says, "And without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him."
0:54
Faith is the foundation of our relationship with God. Before we can walk with Him, obey Him, or serve Him, we must believe Him. Faith trusts God's promises even when we cannot see the outcome.
1:07
It accepts His Word as truth and places confidence in His care. Second, God wants our repentance.
1:14
In Acts seventeen verse thirty, Paul declared, "Therefore, having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent." Repentance is more than feeling sorry for sin.
1:29
It is a change of heart that results in a change of life. It is turning away from our own way and choosing God's way. Every follower of Christ must continually examine his life and seek to grow closer to God's will.
1:43
Third, God wants our obedience. Jesus said in John fourteen verse fifteen, "If you love me, you will keep my commandments." Obedience is the natural response of a heart that trusts God.
1:56
We do not obey in order to earn salvation. We obey because we love the one who saved us. God's commands are not burdensome. They are given for our good and His glory. Fourth, God wants our love.
2:08
When asked about the greatest commandment, Jesus answered, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind."
2:18
He then added, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Love is the identifying mark of genuine discipleship. It shapes our words, guides our actions, and influences how we treat others.
2:31
A life filled with faith, repentance, and obedience will naturally overflow with love. So what does God want from us? He wants our faith, He wants our repentance, He wants our obedience, and He wants our love.
2:45
These four qualities are not merely religious activities. They are the characteristics of a heart devoted to God. As you go through your day, take a moment to reflect. How are these qualities growing in your life?
2:58
Where can you trust God more deeply, turn from sin more completely, obey more faithfully, or love more fully? Thank you for joining me for Truth from The Hive.
3:09
Until next time, keep seeking God's truth and living it every day.
